Aughagower is located in County Mayo in the
west of Ireland. It is a small village with many
historical and religious roots. It has an array
of remains associated with pagan and druid
activities from centuries past. Their is still a
strong and continuing association with Saint
Patrick. Aughagower translated to english
means the "Field of the Springs". It is rich in
culture and folklore and attracts many visitors
on this basis. Some of the attractions for
tourists include the "Round Tower",
"The Church of the Teeth", the "Well of the Deacons",, "Leaba
Phadraig", the "Medieval church" and the
"Megalithic Tomb". It is located only five miles
east of Croagh Patrick whick may explain its
close association with Saint Patrick. More
modern achivements for Aughagower have
been the scooping of the the third tidiest town
award in Mayo and it has a great tradition of
